My opinion of news writing and as a
citizen journalist
As citizen
journalists, we can learn to use websites such as blogs, podcasts as well as
social media, and YouTube to disseminate information. Citizen journalism can
use the platform to write news writing. Using platforms such as bloggers can
help citizen journalism in writing news writing. Blogger can be used easily
with various features in it such as there is a comment feature that makes it
easier for readers to provide feedback to the author. Make it easier for
citizen journalism to reach their news writing access to a larger readership.
Create news writing by collecting credible, accurate, and objective
information. News writing is based on facts without bias. For the information
shown to be accountable, as a citizen journalism must conduct news gathering
first before writing news writing. News gatherings can be done such as
conducting interviews and background research. Write news that becomes
informative and valuable to the readers. Make good use of existing platforms in
the stage of improving writing skills.

Reflection
This knowledge
talks about features and story aspects. Because I do not yet know about this
knowledge, I will now need to read more about this knowledge because it is a
useful topic for me in studying news, features, and editorial courses. A
feature story is a sort of journalistic or creative writing that goes beyond
the simple facts of a news event and dives into the deeper, more personal
components of the tale. By implementing this knowledge we can learn some key
features and aspects that are commonly found in feature stories. For me, the
most important aspect is where we can find out the aim is to craft a narrative
that captivates readers while also providing them with a deeper comprehension
of the subject matter. Having learned about this knowledge I now know that the
style and content of feature pieces can vary greatly depending on the
publication and readership. I have developed my knowledge of this material can
be used as knowledge to improve my writing skills, especially in news features.
Summary
According to the lecture’s
explanation and lecture note in their article titled “Features Story
Aspects,” it was stated that A feature
story is a type of journalism that delves into the deeper human aspects of a
story, focusing on the human element of the situation. Key features include
human interest, character development, narrative structure, descriptive
language, emotion and empathy, conflict and resolution, background and context,
quotes and dialogue, themes and messages, unique angles, research and
investment, visual elements, author's voice, engaging lead, and exploration of
subcultures or niche topics. Feature stories aim to connect with readers on a
personal level, providing background information, personal anecdotes, or
interviews that reveal the character's personality and motivations. They also
use descriptive language to create vivid imagery and engage the reader's
senses. The story's background and context are essential for readers to
understand the broader significance of the story. In the digital age, feature
stories often incorporate multimedia elements to enhance the reader's
experience. The key is to create a compelling narrative that captures readers
and offers them a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
