 SUMMARY

According to Paper of group 1 (2023), the author of “A matter of opinion: what an Editorial Does.” states that A Matter of Opinion is a term used to refer to topics or issues that are based on subjective opinions and viewpoints rather than clear facts or empirical data. It is important to distinguish between news that is based on facts and reports that focus on opinion or subjective analysis. An editorial is an article that presents the authors opinion on an issue, reflects the majority vote of the editorial board, and is meant to influence public opinion, promote critical thinking, and sometimes cause people to take action on an issue. Good editorials should engage issues, provide alternative solutions, summarize the writer’s opinion, explain or interpret, criticize, persuade, and praise. They should also explain or interpret a sensitive or controversial subject, critique, criticize, persuade, and praise. They should also explain or interpret the way the newspaper covered a sensitive or controversial subject, criticize, persuade, and praise. The most important details in writing a news editorial are choosing a topic, choosing an opinion, outlining an editorial, writing an article, and picking a headline that grabs the reader’s attention. Choosing a topic is the most important part of writing a news editorial, as it engages the reader’s attention and provides a strong opinion. Outlining an editorial helps the writer get their thoughts and opinions in order and discover any swaying of opinions. Writing an article is the first step to writing a news editorial, and should have at least three arguments backed up with facts and evidence.

REFLECTION

Previously, I learned about feature people which is a different kind of news to the one I learned this week. This knowledge is talk about a matter of opinion on what an editor does. Because I do not yet know about this knowledge, I will now need to read more about this topic because it is a useful topic for me in studying journalism course. Where editorials function as tools in journalism that provide a place for analysis, debate, and exchange of ideas. Having learned this knowledge I now know that writing articles or news editorials can serve as a platform to express opinions and influence public discourse. For me, the most important aspect was where a matter of opinion plays an important role in journalism by providing analysis, interpretation, and computers about important issues being discussed. I have developed my knowledge of this material and that news editorial can be done by doing steps such as the following choosing a topic, choosing your opinion, outlining your editorial, and writing your article. This knowledge is important to me in the workplace because it can practice news writing skills that involve writing opinions that can persuade readers to adopt the same point of view.
