My opinion of news writing and as a
citizen journalist
As citizen
journalists, we can learn to use websites such as blogs, podcasts as well as
social media, and YouTube to disseminate information. Citizen journalism can
use the platform to write news writing. Using platforms such as bloggers can
help citizen journalism in writing news writing. Blogger can be used easily
with various features in it such as there is a comment feature that makes it
easier for readers to provide feedback to the author. Make it easier for
citizen journalism to reach their news writing access to a larger readership.
Create news writing by collecting credible, accurate, and objective
information. News writing is based on facts without bias. For the information
shown to be accountable, as a citizen journalism must conduct news gathering
first before writing news writing. News gatherings can be done such as
conducting interviews and background research. Write news that becomes
informative and valuable to the readers. Make good use of existing platforms in
the stage of improving writing skills.

Reflection
Previously,
I questioned how to start writing good news starting from knowing associated
press style and APA Style references. Because I do not yet know about this
knowledge, I will now need to read more about this topic because it is a useful
topic for me. Having learned this knowledge I now know that associated press
style and APA style references become an important start of a news story. I
have developed my knowledge of this material that AP style provides consistent
guidelines for such publications in terms of grammar, spelling, punctuation,
and language usage. It aims to maintain consistency, clarity, accuracy, and
brevity while avoiding stereotypes and offensive language. I have developed my
understanding of this knowledge regarding common style guidelines relating to
associated press style and APA style. This knowledge is important to me in the
workplace because it can train writing skills, the ability to write according
to the structure, and how to make our writing attract readers interest.
Summary
According to the lecturer’s explanation and lecture note in their article titled “Associated Press style and APA Style references: Common types examples,” it was stated the associated press style provides guidelines for news writing in newspapers, magazines, and public relations offices across the United States. It aims to maintain consistency, clarity, accuracy, and brevity while avoiding stereotypes and offensive language. The Associated Press Stylebook provides an A-Z guide to issues such as capitalization, abbreviation, punctuation, spelling, numerals, and other language usage. Abbreviations and acronyms are required in certain situations, while others are acceptable but not required in some contexts. Addresses should always use figures, abbreviate Ave., Blvd., and St., and spell out other words. Ages should use figures, and apostrophes should be avoided when describing an age range. Quotations should be used around the titles of books, songs, television shows, computer games, poems, lectures, speeches, and works of art. However, they should not be used around the names of magazines, newspapers, the Bible, or books that are catalogs of reference materials. In summary, the AP style provides consistent guidelines for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language usage in newspapers and mass media.
